Hopkinton Woman Suffers Serious Injuries

Earlier this summer, a Hopkinton, Massachusetts woman sustained serious injuries after being ejected from the sedan in which she was a passenger when it collided with a utility vehicle. The crash occurred in Wilford near 420 Fortune Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. According to witnesses, the sedan’s driver was speeding and overtaking multiple vehicles before crossing into oncoming traffic where it collided with the utility truck.

US Pedestrian Deaths Spiked Despite Pandemic Lockdown

Covid-19 may have been a once-in-lifetime event, or so we hope, that led to business and office closures in Massachusetts and throughout the nation for most of 2020 and into the early part of 2021. As a result, there were far fewer vehicles on the road as those who were still working could do so at home or in areas outside of their normal offices. Increase in Wrong Way Accidents in Western Massachusetts

For some reason, wrong-way accidents are on the rise in Western Massachusetts. Between 2015 and 2018, our state experienced twice the national average in wrong way accident fatalities with 500 deaths per year.  Springfield reported 315 wrong-way car collisions between 2010 and 2020, making it the second worst in the state for such accidents behind Worcester.

Senators Propose Legislation to Boost Safety of Vehicle Seats

If you are involved in a motor vehicle accident, we hope and expect that safety equipment such as airbags, anti-lock brakes, seatbelts, and metal integrity among other factors built into our vehicles will save us from serious injury or death. However, vehicle seat safety has lagged behind most if not all safety innovations implemented since the 1960s. In response, Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts, and Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut are spearheading legislation to improve vehicle seat safety standards.
