Pedestrians Injured All Around Massachusetts

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Transportation is increasing efforts to bring awareness to pedestrian and bicycle safety by its April 2014 launching of the “Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Awareness and Enforcement Program.” This program includes allotment of almost half a million dollars in funding to twelve Massachusetts communities for the purpose of “identification of infrastructure improvements that are needed to improve safe travel for all modes.”

Large-Truck Accidents in Massachusetts

On July 17, 2014, the combination of a lost, out-of-town truck driver and defective truck breaks resulted in a sixty-foot flatbed truck launching into a Boston Common stairwell, just a few blocks from our Six Beacon Street office. Thankfully there were no injuries, but authorities cleared out the vicinity including Boston Common Frog Pond wading area due to concerns about the truck’s fuel tanks and any possible leaks or explosions.

Driver Fatigue and Tractor-Trailer Accidents

On the morning of July 8, 2014, a tractor-trailer rolled over on the ramp between Interstates 290 and 495 in Marlborough, Massachusetts. While thankfully no injuries were reported, the clean-up of the roadway took several hours and highway traffic was at a standstill for a large portion of the day.
